Last year I sent over 1.2 million emails.

I’ll tell you which 5 newsletters were opened most often and why.

From this I derive 3 learnings that you can implement for your email marketing.

If you want higher open rates, more clicks and more sales from your newsletter, stick with it.

 

Last year I wrote about 200 newsletters and sent them to about 6,000 subscribers.

That makes a total of 1.2 million emails sent

So you see: I’m not just groping around in the dark here, but giving you very practical tips from my business.

And learning number 1 for your email marketing is:

Use famous names in your subject lines
(Worth reading: Become a blogger and earn money by writing .)

In fifth and fourth place in terms of opening rates were two newsletters that contained famous names.

In fifth place was the subject line “The truth about Karin Wess” with a 43% open rate.

The email with the phone number library subject line “Jörg Löhr unveiled” came in fourth place.

Should you also use these names in your newsletters?

No.

Because both names are quite well known in my industry.

My target audience is interested in these people and that’s why I included them in my subject lines.

You should include names that your target audience finds interesting.

If you write about fitness, use Arnold Schwarzenegger.

And also use names that are controversial: like Donald Trump or Elon Musk.

A fellow blogger told me:

I just changed the headline in my blog post and added the name of a famous writer.

The number of clicks immediately doubled.

Include names that trigger your audience.
